How a Local Plumbing & Drain Cleaning Company Got Found More and Turned That Into More Calls

This local plumbing and drain company had great service and a 4.7 star rating, but they weren’t showing up consistently on Google when people needed help right now. In a few months, we helped them get seen more, show up higher, and get more actions from real local searchers.

The Business Was Doing Good Work. Google Wasn’t Showing It Enough.

The company did not have a reputation problem. Customers who worked with them were generally happy, and the business maintained a 4.7-star rating. The problem was that those strengths were not translating into consistent exposure in Google Search and Maps.

When someone nearby searched for a plumber, drain cleaning company, rooter service, or another relevant service, competing businesses could appear more prominently and get the opportunity first.

That created a common problem for local businesses: the company could be perfectly capable of winning the customer once considered, but it first had to become part of the customer’s consideration set.

A Practical Plan Focused on the Parts Most Likely to Make a Difference

We did not treat this as one isolated SEO fix. We focused on several parts of the business’s local search presence that influence whether Google surfaces the company and whether customers take action once they find it.

Google Business Profile

We cleaned up and strengthened the profile so Google and prospective customers had clearer information about the business.

That included reviewing categories, services, business information, service areas, and the customer-facing elements of the listing. We also continued maintaining the profile so it did not become another neglected listing after the initial work was completed.

Reviews & Reputation

The company already had a good rating, but review activity needed to become more consistent.

We helped establish a practical process for requesting reviews and made regular review responses part of the ongoing work. The goal was to give prospective customers more recent evidence that the company was active, trusted, and serving customers successfully.

Local SEO

We strengthened the relationship between the website, the services the company actually offered, the areas it served, and the searches prospective customers were making.

That gave Google clearer information about when the business should be considered relevant while also improving the path between the Google Business Profile and the website.

Tracking

We put measurement in place so we could see whether increased search exposure was actually producing meaningful customer actions.

Rather than looking only at rankings, we tracked profile views, calls, website clicks, direction requests, and other indicators of how people were interacting with the business after finding it.

More Searches Turned Into More Calls

During May through September 2025, the Google Business Profile generated an average of 8.6 call clicks per month.

From January through June 2026, that average increased to approximately 25 calls per month.

That represents an increase of about 191% in calls initiated directly from the profile.

The important point is not just that Google showed the business more often. The increase in exposure was accompanied by a meaningful increase in people taking one of the actions most likely to lead to new business.

Customers Were Taking Other High-Intent Actions Too

Website clicks increased dramatically over the same period, from roughly 1 per month during the earlier comparison period to approximately 55 per month during January through June 2026.

Direction requests also increased, from an average of approximately 2 per month during May through September 2025 to approximately 52 per month during the first six months of 2026.

More People Found Them. More People Evaluated Them. More People Took Action.

More people found the business

The company began appearing in front of substantially more local customers across Google Search and Maps.

More people evaluated the business

The Google Business Profile, reviews, website, services, and other business information gave prospective customers more information to use when deciding whether the company belonged on their shortlist.

More people took action

Calls, website clicks, and direction requests all increased as more customers encountered and interacted with the business.

Good Work Still Needs to Be Seen

This business did not suddenly become better at plumbing. It already had a good reputation and satisfied customers.

What changed was the strength of the information and signals surrounding the business. The Google Business Profile became stronger, review activity became more consistent, the website better reflected the services and markets being targeted, and performance was measured so we could see what was actually changing.

Local search growth rarely comes from one tactic in isolation. The gains came from several pieces reinforcing one another.

For other local businesses, that is an important distinction. You can have excellent service and still lose opportunities if customers do not find you often enough when they are ready to hire.
